Pre Shelton joins the Joseph House team

Joining our team at Joseph House is Pre Shelton. Pre will be our Community Educator as he will spread the word about our community and its mission. Pre speaks from experience about the challenges of incarceration. He is especially attuned to the dire needs of those inside. Pre also brings a powerful sense of hopefulness of what our world can look like when justice and mercy embrace.

JoJo’s Birthday is a supreme feast day!

Celebrating birthdays at Joseph House has this powerful effect where the joy of life is affirmed! Celebrating Joe’s birthday is like witnessing one of those majestic geysers, it is itself a natural wonder right here on Bradford Road in Tallahassee. His joy, and the joy other brothers have for life, is an affront to the cruelty of a criminal justice system that often discards human life.

“The mountains and hills shall burst forth in glad song before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”

Joe teaches us to go all out on our birthdays, knowing that when we celebrate our life to the hilt we vanquish the foe! Want to silence the naysayers, celebrate birthdays loudly & colorfully!

It’s been nearly a month now since we welcomed our dear brother Arthur to our community. In just a short few days Arthur has already embarked upon a culinary apprenticeship at Refire, a culinary program in Tallahassee. Arthur sums up the power of cooking when he says,

“Here at Joseph House we make tacos, not tragedies!”

The art of accompaniment

Volunteer

Some may volunteer by accompanying our residents through challenging tasks.

Others may wish to volunteer by assisting helping us around the house, creating a sense of belonging for all of us.

Finally, others may simply want to join us on occasion at our community events to learn more.

Responding to Material Needs

Donate

There are very real costs to create a home for those hoping to re-enter society after incarceration.

Joseph House, through the generosity of our donors, has been able to take concrete steps towards justice by restoring the dignity of those leaving the prison systems.

Sharing the Good News

Share

In less than one year our ministry has grown in leaps and bounds, impacting the lives of many for one simple reason: people are sharing the good news.

We encourage you to share Joseph House with your family, your friends, your community, inviting them to join us as we join those re-entering society after prison.
